GDPR Compliant User Level Tracking

INTRODUCTION

What is GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), is a regulation that aims to protect the privacy of individuals within the European Union (EU) wherever they browse online and it applies to all companies, non-profit organizations, and public entities - even outside of the EU. Non-compliance or data/privacy breaches can land you with a fine of up to 4% of your yearly revenue, according to Article 83 of the GDPR, so it’s very important to make sure you adhere to the rules.

Mass-market tracking solutions struggle with the balance of deep data tracking and GDPR compliance, whereas Incendium can provide much more data while remaining compliant. Solutions with servers based in the USA for example, can’t be compliant at the user-level. Incendium remains compliant and can offer user-level tracking; it all depends on consent.

How is Incendium GDPR Compliant?

• Data is stored in the EU
• Data is anonymized unless consent is given
• We use first-party cookies
• Visitors can opt-out of tracking
• Visitors can see the data collected on them
• Visitors can request data to be deleted
• The data is not used for any other purposes
(note: this is where larger mass-market solutions which also provide advertising fall short)

There are many gray areas in GDPR legislation, but Incendium has been built to be on the white side of these instances. If you have concerns about compliance, please feel free to speak with your Incendium representative.
